Financial planning software developer to release cloud-based advice software

13 September 2013

Financial planning software developer Midwinter has talked up its company’s latest software that will link adviser-planning software to social media platforms.

Speaking prior to the Midwinter 5th Annual Advice Roadshow managing director Julian Plummer, has used the recent Investment Trends Planner Technology Report to highlight the industry’s rise in utilising social media and technology. The report found that, “four in five planners use smart phones or tablet devices and the use of iPads has doubled from 21 per cent to 38 per cent in the past year and two third use social media to some extent, with LinkedIn and Facebook usage among planners on the rise. Plummer has said that, “the move from Midwinter’s desktop Reasonable Basis software to the cloud-based AdviceOS would incorporate far greater social platform accessibility.”

The software has been designed so an adviser can look into AdviceOS and can configure it to read their LinkedIn account and import their contacts to the CMS and data mine it, or search by age, gender, or occupation. It will also allow the user to segment their clients more easily by being able to split them up based on various criteria, so clients can be segmented easier using social media.

The Midwinter roadshow theme is titled The Next Generation of Financial Advice and runs from 17 September to 8 October.
